About Us
Garour Cafe is a social enterprise that target to cope with climate change and global food insecurity through low-carbon and sustainable living in simple and actionable.
The inspiration of our name "Garour Cafe" is from the word "garður" meaning garden in Icelandic. Iceland links us to think of eco-friendly which is very appropriate for our campaign since Iceland ranked the most Eco-friendly country and Second most Eco-friendly country according to survey in 2011 and EPI assessment in 2018 respectively. “ Gar” + “our” implies our garden provides the ingredients to our cafe.
Garour Cafe is the first cafe in Hong Kong that use unwanted tree trunk for furniture, Solar Energy System for electricity and self-sufficient crops harvest from our rooftop garden with the mission to encourage the public with sustainable, wholesome and creative food choices.
We donate the leftover of our harvest as well the leftover cooked food to Food Angel for people in need.
